What is Kralik glass?
Kralik was probably the largest volume producer of Bohemian ‘art glass’ in the early 20th century. The range of glass and designs ( decors) was immense and in the past much was attributed to other manufacturers, paticularly Loetz.
Where was Kralik glass made?
The Kralik glassworks, full name Wilhelm Kralik Sohne, was originally founded by Josef Meyr in 1815, in Bohemia. The factory was originally called Adolfshutte. When Josef died, his son Jan took over the company. By this time, the company owned 4 glass factories.
How can you tell Czech glass?
Identification can be hard, as most glass is unmarked and labels were usually washed off. The way to get your eye in is to look through specialist books. Colour can be a clue: amber-brown and green is a hallmark combination.
