Does Operation Christmas Child repack the boxes?
We do not empty and repack your gifts, nor do we remove items from a very full shoebox to help fill another. There are buckets of items at each processing station donated specifically for the purpose of filling shoebox gifts in need of something more.
Can you put toothpaste in Samaritan Purse boxes?
Many came to Christ through it. Starting in 2017, candy and toothpaste will not be allowed in shoebox gifts due to customs regulations.

- War-related items such as toy guns, knives, or military figures.
- Chocolate or food, including candy – due to customs regulations.
- Seeds.
- Liquids or lotions – these can spill and get all over the other items.
- Medications or vitamins.
What happens to the shoeboxes you donate to Samaritans purse?
The shoebox you donated online will be packed and sent to a child affected by war, poverty, famine, or natural disaster in a developing country. Each shoebox will carry the power of a simple message, that God cares for and loves the child who receives it.
